In Extremo pictures

Feuertanz, Andernach, August 30, 2002

To us this picture really is In Extremo; medieval music. Modern instruments mixed with old fashioned ones, producing much 'heavier' music than you would expect. Dr Pymonte playing the harp shows both sensitivity and sturdiness.
Das Letzte Einhorn, the lead singer of the band. As Alex looks at the 'medieval' belt, he almost feels jealous!
Those three bagpipes produce the authentic sound of in Extremo.
In the back you can see the drum kit. There's a gong on it, which makes it very special.
The gallows are used both as the logo and the symbol of  In Extremo. Medieval entertainment could be very cruel....
Alex's favorite instrument; the medieval shawm. Produces a very merry sound. Here Yellow Pfeiffer plays the introduction to our favorite song 'Herr Mannelig'.
"Size doesn't matter" people say.... but I'm not sure wether Flex der Biegsame is satisfied with such a small one.
This instrument looks a bit like a violin, but is not held like it. It also has more strings than a violin. It's called a nickelharpa. Maybe you're more familiar with the hurdy-gurdy in the back?
To entertain the fans Flex did some acrobatics...
Das Letzte Einhorn is not really broad, but when he roars into the microphone, you can see his strong muscles squeeze air out of his lungs.
The fire-brigade was there, but fortunately no accidents occurred.
Fire and uproar are a regular part of the show, for sure at so called 'Feuertanz-festivals'.
One can easily recognize the biggest fan by her tattoo of the logo of the band.
"Who's that funny guy shooting pictures over and over again?", Yellow Pfeiffer wonders. He looks right into the lens when he tries to find out.
The drummer finally gets the credits he deserves.
Die Lutter was almost worshipped.
Although the bass guitarist must be very tired after a 2 hour gig, he smiled when Alex took this picture. So Barbara had not been driving for 5 hours for nothing.
On stage Dr Pymonte seems very tall, but next to him Alex turned out to be quite a lot taller! Well, he still is his favorite!
The best part of the evening. Das Letzte Einhorn was so excited about Barbara's tattoo that he wanted to show it to the other band members. That's how we got backstage. We've been talking with him quite a while.
Then Alex wanted a picture of him and the band, you can see they are relaxed.

P.S.: who has edited the kilt into the picture? ;-)
