When waiting for the show to begin, we saw Der Morgenstern building up
his drums. |
| When everything is finished, he even tests the sound himself. The
sound was very loud today, we were glad a nice girl gave us some paper
towels so we could tear of pieces to put in our ears. |
As always the intro to the show is mysterious and exciting. Adrenalin
starts to run and gooseflesh appears on our skins.... |
| And there is Das Letzte Einhorn, starting off with Stetit Puella! On
this pic you cannot see it very well, but he is wearing a new outfit!
We've seen this jacket before, but the trousers must be new! We really had
to get used to it, but it's quite funny to see him in trousers. Maybe he
didn't shave his legs today? |
After Der Spielmannsfluch Das Letzte Einhorn took his cyster to play the
intro to Herr Mannelig. As always the fans really enjoyed it and sang
along very well. But that's what we expect when we go to a gig in Germany.
In Holland there are few people who can sing along not only the chorus but
the whole song (we can :-) ). |
| Then Yellow Pfeiffer joins him with his shawm or schalmei. Real fans
already recognize the song when Das Letzte Einhorn plays the cyster, but
when the melody played by Yellow Pfeiffer starts, everybody knows which
song is coming up! |
Soon not only the fans are heated, so is the stage by the fireworks. |
| I think the flames bursted out first during Pavane, which of
course is a very exciting song. |
Does Das Letzte Einhorn think it's too hot? I hope he's not asking Dr
Pymonte to take away the flame-throwers?! Dr Pymonte is laughing, of
course he won't do that. 'This is a pyro-party, Mischa!', he says. |
| 'Oh, I think I should warn the fans'! Hey you, please notice this is a
pyro party and medieval rock show all at once and there's a risk of
getting overheated!'
Unfortunately it seemed like the fire-brigade took this very
seriously. They decided to spray the audience with cold water over and
over again, while it was not that warm actually at all! Morons..... we
were only getting a cold!
Das Letzte Einhorn figured out that those flames weren't bad
at all. Cosy!
| He thinks he's a very tough guy now..... Well, he's right! |
Eeh.... not with a bra, dude! |
| I'll show you I'm no sissy! Watch this! |
Ok, I get it! You're a rough and tough fire breathing daredevil! Happy
now? Men.... |
| What's Dr Pymonte looking at? |
I think he wonders what Flex is doing..... is he playing the drums with his
head?! 'Maybe you should better put away your bagpipes and us your hands,
Flex!' Can someone warn this guy? He can't hear me! |
| Phew, that's better! Don't do this again Flex! We really don't want
you to have a headache. Who else has to play your parts? |
Flex (Marco) was really flex today! Bend over backward...... |
| and to the left.... He once said he thinks he's too old now (30 years) to
do acrobatics on stage, but I really don't understand why when seeing
this?! |
He was really showing off all the time too, it was very hard to make a
good picture of him today! While usually he's the calm guy... |
| He even makes Die Lutter forget he's supposed to be the serious guy! Keep
going Flex, you're doing a great job! |
Now Flex has to take a rest. It's hard showing off when you're not
used to it! Das Letzte Einhorn is keeping an eye on him. He doesn't want
him to be overheated of course... Der Lange hopes he gets some attention
now and gets frontline.... |
| But Yellow Pfeiffer (Boris) and Dr Pymonte (Andre) take over and walk around
the stage together. |
When the flames burst out again, Flex joins his bagpipe buddies. He
still is a bit dazed and confused I think.... |
| But of course he knows what to do soon. |
Die Lutter (Kay) is looking serious, even a bit sad again. Maybe because
he plans to move to Malaysia with his wife? We've heard that after the
tour for the next album his future as a band member is not sure, but for
now he won't think about it yet, he says! |
| He may not
be the most funny guy on stage, but he's sure nice to look at! And he
plays a very important part of the music of course. Without the heavy and
very present sound of his bass guitar lots of In Extremo songs would be
much less impressive. |
Hey, what's happening? I lose eyesight of Yellow Pfeiffer for one minute
and he tries to get attention again! You'd better leave those tricks to Flex, Yellow Pfeiffer! |
| Hey, I'm not doing anything wrong..... I'm just doing my easy looking
but difficult twirling stuff! |
And I play my nickelharpa, so what are you up too? I'm innocent... |
| Just look at Das Letzte Einhorn, at my right, he's acting stupid! |
Well, that's a sure thing! And Flex is even showing his leg to get
attention! Man, strange things happening today on stage.... Is it because
of the new song Königin? I do have to get used to it, but it sure doesn't
make me act weird! |
| Let's take a closer look... Ok, don't worry he's all right now. Just a
bit fuzzy hands, that's all! |
And he's able to point at fans with his hand, so I guess it doesn't
hurt. He's singing 'Küß mich' here. Well, come down to me and I will!
At the left you can see a small piece of the firework that was fired at
the stronghold (or castle) meanwhile. |
| Das Lezte Einhorn didn't think it was cold, but put on his 'magical'
coat to cast the spell called 'Merseburger Zaubersprüche II'.
Phuoll ende Wodan......... Any cripple horses around here? (See
translation of the song at the official site, it's a spell to heal a horse's leg) |
Wow, is that a sorcerer's fire? I think the drums are burning! Hey,
Mischa, did you cast the wrong spell? |
| 'My fault, sorry!' Don't worry, I've already extinguished it!' Someone
put my drum-sticks on fire.... |
I didn't do it! I'm just playing my guitar... Anybody want to hear a
great solo
by the way? |
| Well, it's okay to play frontline between the flames too... |
If a small cute guy can do that, I can do that too! Can everybody see
me? |
| Ok, let the front man stand at his place again.... |
It sure looks heated out there.... |
| I'm hot, I'm hot, I'm hot, I'm hot.... do you have some cold water
perhaps? |
At least Flex is calm again.... |
| Just play the hurdy-gurdy and relax.... |
Some gentle harp music to complete it and even Yellow Pfeiffer takes a
rest.... |
| Well, let's end the show then... |
