In Extremo pictures

Het Bolwerk, Sneek, April 19, 2003

This evening started with a gig of Goddesss of Desire. Click here to see pictures of their spectacular gig.

For their fans it's not necessary to introduce the band members, but to be sure they were all there today, we do ;-). With his strong, very low voice front man Der Letzte Einhorn surely puts his stamp on the sound of In Extremo.
Die Lutter plays the bass and sometimes the big drum. He always looks serious, we think it's part of his image ;-)
Although Flex Der Biegsame doesn't do acrobatics anymore, he really does his bit by playing the bagpipe, various flutes and the hurdy-gurdy. He seems to play the role of the good boy of the band.
Yellow Pfeiffer plays lots of instruments too and does some tricks now and then, but he knows how to be charming too. He tries to have eye contact with the fans as much as possible and smiles naughty at the girls. Many female fans think he's cute, including me (Barbara).
Dr Pymonte is a big, sturdy man with a passion for playing his harp.  It's always funny to see (and hear) this strange looking combination. He always loves to joke around on stage too.
Van Lange is always enjoying himself on stage a lot and is always laughing, so his serious face on this picture is a unique shot.
Der Morgenstern is playing his drums. Although he's in the back, you can see him quite well because his drums are put at a platform. When the stage is lower, a wooden frame with a gong completes the drums.
Of course a good band needs good roadies too, to solve problems with an instrument for example. This roadie fixes the cyster played by Das Letzte Einhorn during our favorite song 'Herr Mannelig'.
Yellow Pfeiffer has started to play the introduction to this song meanwhile. It's a very jolly song, in which his shawm (schalmei) is the leading instrument for the melody.
Dr Pymonte plays the schawm a lot too. As you can see, he needs to concentrate for it.
Das Letzte Einhorn plays another kind of flute sometimes. We wonder why he's satisfied with such a little one.....
Of course the most distinctive sound of the band is produced by  this threesome (the good, the big and the naughty?) playing the bagpipes. Dr Pymonte plays a new one here.
When not singing, Das Letzte Einhorn can be found doing....... eehhh......well, we don't know doing what actually, but we caught him!
We do know that Dr Pymonte is sneaky walking up and down the stage while playing his harp here. We caught him too!
Das Letzte Einhorn shows some wild stuff here. That's what we are used to when he's not singing.!
But he needs to take a rest sometimes too. Dr Pymonte and Yellow Pfeiffer are showing off instead.
Das Letzte Einhorn is back on stage to get attention again. When he sings you can see his quite muscular belly vibrate with his extremely low and dark voice.
Flex Der Biegsame encourages the fans to clap their hands.  Die Lutter claps his hands too to help him, but of course the fans join Flex immediately without any help.
Yellow Pfeiffer only needs his naughty looks to draw all of the attention to his tricks. Men, he's cute! ;-)
Flex is playing his role of the good boy very well.
He also plays a small flute now and then like Der Lezte Einhorn. Same question for him..........
Of course Der Morgenstern still contributes his part in the back. Thanks to some bright lights in the back we could see him quite well this time.
Of course Yellow Pfeiffer also plays the nickelharpa today. Some songs really wouldn't sound the same without it.
Der Lange likes to be in the middle of attention too sometimes. You can see him frontline then. We didn't see what Dr Pymonte was doing in the back.
Flex Der Biegsame took the place of  Der Lange. To have a little rest maybe?
Wow, even Die Lutter got frontline. Well, if Flex and Yellow Pfeiffer don't sing along he doesn't have a choice.
Flex Der Biegsame takes his hurdy-gurdy after getting back to his place. It looks like Die Lutter doesn't like standing in the back anymore....
Das Letzte Einhorn is still singing.
This time he introduces 'Villeman og Manhild' by horn alone. Usually Yellow Pfeiffer plays the horn along with him. It looks like he was inspecting his bagpipes in the back. Something wrong with it?
Das Letzte Einhorn uses to have a dance with his microphone standard sometimes.
The good and the serious guy together.
Hey, which alien tries to beam up Das Letzte Einhorn?! Stop it!!
Phew, no alien is interested in Yellow Pfeiffer..... I would miss his good looks, interaction with the fans and his playing of course ;-) He looks a bit mysterious here too.
A last glance at his shawm.
Thank god Das Letzte Einhorn is still there.
He sure is the front man, but always gives credits to his band mates, for example after playing a great solo on bagpipes, like Yellow Pfeiffer did. They deserve it!
It's time to say goodbye now....
