This is the play list as you can see. I'll try to keep it as a thread to
lead you through the pics. |
| This a view on the stage, it was placed beneath a naturally bent wall
(forming an arc of a circle) covered with threes. It was a very nice place
that gave place to about 500 people (it had been sold out), but it was a
pity the 'medieval market' consisted of one 'gothic' stand only.... At the
right you can see some people sitting back stage, could it be some In
Extremo guys are watching this show? |
Yes, Basti (Der Lange), Marco (second name Felix, very much like his
stage name Flex), Kay (Die Lutter) and Reiner (Der Morgenstern) are
watching the show! Mischa (Das Letzte Einhorn) is having a talk with
somebody. I guess he wasn't very interested in the comical rock band 'Cephalgia'
on stage. They were quite funny and did a rock cover of Britney Spear's
song 'One more time'. |
| Boris takes a look too. We were not sure, but it looked like Basti and
Marco were posing for Alex here.... Maybe they did see that tall bald
Dutch fan taking lots of pictures all the time.... |
When waiting for the show to begin, it was nice to see almost every band member
prepare their instruments. We saw Der Morgenstern test his drums. |
| Yellow Pfeiffer is tuning his nickelharpa too. |
And so does Die Lutter with his bass guitar. |
| Der Lange tuned his guitar too..... |
And even a hurdy-gurdy has to be prepared! |
| When everything is ready and Die Lutter, Der Morgenstern and Der Lange
are on stage, Das Letzte Einhorn gets on stage to kick off one of the best
gigs we've seen of the boys! |
He's wearing his jacket, but not for long of course! |
| And his new trousers! Notice the tear in his left leg, does he want to
look sexy or something? Well, there's no need for torn trousers then! |
And look at his shoes, they're new too! |
| Of course the bagpipe buddies showed up for the first chorus of 'Stetit
Puella'. And when fireworks bursted out, the party really got started!
Flex shows his really relaxed attitude. |
Without Yellow Pfeiffer In Extremo would not be the same! |
| He sure can make some funny faces! Flex can hardly keep back his
laughing seeing it. Well, as always you can see they like being on stage
and fooling around a bit. But let's concentrate on Herr Mannelig again
now!
Of course they had to get ready first for this jolly song. Das Letzte
Einhorn took his cyster, Die Lutter checked his bass guitar and Flex and
Yellow Pfeiffer went to get their flute and schalmei (or shawm).
| Is Flex wondering what he should do? Strange, it's not the first time
they play this song.... |
It looks like Die Lutter even is taking a break?! |
| 'Can someone tell this guy to play on?!' |
'Yes, that's better! And you're a good boy too, Flex!' |
| During the next song (Ai vis lo lop) somebody woke up! Keep on going
like this Kay! |
Then Dr Pymonte starts to play his harp for the next song, 'Merseburger
Zaubersprüche II'. |
| Yellow Pfeiffer plays his nickelharpa and Flex plays the big drum. |
For this song Das Letzte Einhorn puts on his special 'magical' coat. I
(Barbara) am
very happy that Alex managed to take a very sharp picture of it today! I
think it's so great!!! Mischa looks very mysterious (and attractive ;-))
in it I think.... The coat really attributes to the atmosphere of the song
anyway. |
| So let's have another look on it, especially for me! :-) |
After this song the new song 'Königin' started. So Das Letzte Einhorn
has to take his exotic looking drum. The more we hear this a bit Arabic
like song, the better it gets. The melody is very exciting. |
| Something seems to distract Mischa.... |
It's Der Lange getting frontline to get some attention.... Dr Pymonte
looks confident with it... |
| But of course we give him some attention too.... You can hardly overlook
him! |
The next song is Lebensbeichte. I feel this song, about a sailor's
confession, is kind a like the bands 'theme song'. I think it has a link
with the rock 'n roll like lifestyle; whatever we do, we never manage to
keep straight. But maybe I'm just being 'romantic'... It's a very great
song anyway! |
| Mischa even jumped from the stage to let some fans sing along. He
doesn't do that very often, so he really must have been enjoying himself! |
Then Boris starts Pavane, party guaranteed! He really is the favorite
band member of most female fans! |
| Could that have something to do with his nice and funny eyes? |
Let's take a close look... No... I don't think so! They're a bit scary
too here I even think... ;-) .... Just kidding!! Of course he's cute! |
| The flames are bursting out and the stage gets heated! |
Das Letzte Einhorn really gives his best and is bouncing around. |
| While Das Letzte Einhorn is going to a cooler part of the stage, Yellow Pfeiffer
resists the heat and keeps on going. |
When he came back, Das Letzte Einhorn really did everything he could to heat up the
fans too. But that was not really necessary of course! |
| And when Flex takes a drink, he takes the drum-stick and does some
drumming. |
Then Flex gets back to play his bagpipes again. |
| After 'Pavane' they played 'Vollmond' and then one of the few ballads In
Extremo wrote, called 'Der Gier', started. A very good opportunity to take
great pics! Like this one of a characteristic pose of his. |
During 'Krumma Visur' Flex and Yellow Pfeiffer both play their handmade
medieval instruments. |
| Yellow Pfeiffer is waiting to do some heavy twirling at the
beginning of 'Hiemali Tempore'. Unfortunately we couldn't catch him in the
act with our camera. |
Every fan knows which song is coming up when the horns and the thunder
can be heard, it's the very carefully build up song 'Villeman og Manhild'.
It has a very uplifting beat and gets from simple acoustic to a real rock
frenzy. The fans go crazy on this song. |
| Der Morgenstern does his heated drum-act, which every time is very
exciting to see. |
In the very long intro to the heavy part the bagpipes play a very big
role. It's meant to make the adrenaline flow so when the heavy part
starts, the crowd is jumping and bouncing around. Fans on the front row
(like us) can easily get some bruises now.... but hey, it's worth it! |
| Flames burst again and Der Lange plays a great solo.... |
and sure likes it! |
| Yellow Pfeiffer joins him. |
What's Basti up to? |
| Der Lange plays a solo again, a very long one as always in German gigs. The
other guys told him to stop, but of course he didn't! Part of the game....
:-) |
Mischa wants us to do some finger snapping to the slower part of the
song. He gives credits to every band member then. |
| Palästinalied is coming up, so Flex starts clapping his hands. |
So does Yellow Pfeiffer. |
| Of course the flames keep bursting out during this song. |
Der Lange is looking a bit mysterious here.... |
| The last song on the play list was 'Merseburger Zaubersprüche I', but
they played the extra song 'Werd ich am Galge hoch gezogen', a song they
didn't play for quite a while. |
Then it was time to say goodbye. |
| Der Morgenstern sure doesn't want to miss his credits! I'm coming! |
