We stood front row in the middle and we could see how everything was
build up. Das Letzte Einhorn helps to place the platform for the drums. |
| He offers a helping hand to Die Lutter, moving an amplifier. |
Die Lutter keeps an eye on his equipment. |
| He tests and tunes his bass himself. |
Der Morgenstern also checks whether everything is on the right place. |
| As always Yellow Pfeiffer, Flex and Dr Pymonte are missing when the show
begins. |
Of course the rest shows up to play their part in the opening song 'Stetit
Puella'. Did you know that this quite heavy songs tells about a hot girl
whit a red dress? The title means 'Once there was a girl...' |
| Das Letzte Einhorn takes a small flute to join the distinctive melody of
the song. |
After the second song (Hiemali Tempore we think) Yellow Pfeiffer took
his shawm to play the introduction to Alex's favorite 'Herr Mannelig'. |
| And of course Herr Mannelig wouldn't be the same without Das Letzte
Einhorn playing the cyster (that's what we think it is). |
Althoug the shawm sounds really jolly, the nickelharpa played by Yellow
Pfeiffer too, looks way more interesting. This old Swedish instrument is
quite difficult to play. The musician not only needs a fiddle-stick to
strike the snares, but there are keys at the back that need to be pressed
too. The instrument really puts its stamp on the sound of many In Extremo
songs. |
| When the horns are played, you can be sure 'Villeman Og Manhild' is the
next song. Most of the time thunder can be heard too, but today it wasn't
there. Maybe too sunny today? Or just a broken tape? |
Die Lutter plays the big drum during the long, exciting introduction to
this piece based on a medieval story about a girl called Manhild that was
captured by a troll. Her lover Villeman plays a golden magic harp to free
her. Now that's a love story worth a song! |
| Yellow Pfeiffer and Flex Der Biegsame give their very best on bagpipes
halfway the song. Das Lezte Einhorn takes a little rest now standing next
to the stage. |
Der Lange joins them for the climax of the bagpipes solo. After that the
song really gets into 'heavy mode' and Das Lezte Einhorn appears to start
singing again. The first half of the song is repeated , but the acoustic
instruments are joined now by bass and electronic six string in a
frenzy of uplifting sounds and rhythms. |
| Dr Pymonte plays the keyboard and sings along with the distinctive multi-vocal parts of the song. |
But we love him most playing sensitively on his harp. They still are a
unusual combination.... |
| A bit mysterious too sometimes... |
Yellow Pfeiffer has his mysterious moments too. |
| Sometimes Die Lutter suddenly really kicks ass and abuses a mic standard
for his musical needs. Der Lange shows he can be a sturdy guy too.... Do
you believe it? He just needs to be his cute, happy self to get his
credits we think. |
Just one more moment..... please? |
| Ok, we can give it a try at least..... |
But now it's enough, go back to your place and be happy and cute! ;-) |
| Time for Flex Der Biegsame to get some attention. |
Yellow Pfeiffer also deserves a little attention now. Surely playing his
nickelharpa, he's always worth it! Not to forget because of his charming
appearance ;-). |
| Did you already notice that there's no rope tied to the gallows today?
Well, it wasn't, as you can see on this picture. Guess nobody can tell me
why? Is it laying next to the lost tape with the thunder? |
I guess Die Lutter didn't notice.... most of the time he's looking at his
bass. He does have his hair cut lately, so you could expect him to see at least a
little bit more on stage.... |
| Let's get back to Der Lange, or we miss his spooky moment of the day.
Men, is he bored of being cute? |
It's really time to show the last pictures now. Das Letzte Einhorn in green..... |
| red.... |
and joined by Yellow Pfeiffer in blue... |
| by Dr Pym in green again.... |
and joined by Flex Der Biegsame and Der Lange in blue again. Is this a
colorful band or what? |
| And a last one for the fans of red.... |
